YSA Melbourne Special General Meeting: 6:45pm, 29th July 2018 Greetings, YSA Melbourne! This special general meeting (SGM) has been called to review and approve the financial report for the 2017-18 financial year, as required by our constitution and Consumer Affairs Victoria. This meeting will take place at 11 inch Pizza. However,  if you are unable to join us for the meeting, please feel free to call in - we'll be publishing details of how to do so this page. You can also contact the secretary at secretary@melbourne.ysa.org.au to organise a proxy vote if you are unable to attend in person. Why do we need to be there, anyway? It's important that you, as our membership, have the opportunity to see how YSA is being run, and we'll also need lots of voters to ensure that we can reach quorum (having enough attendees). If this doesn't happen, it'll kick up some administration problems for us, which means it'll be harder for us to organise events and activities for you all! If you're busy preparing for the new semester, don't worry, this will only take ten minutes of your time.    SGM Agenda 28/7/2018 6:45pm 11-inch Pizza 5B 359/353 Little Collins Street Attendance Introduction Treasurer Presentation of the 2017-18 financial report Motion to approve 2017-18 financial report

Rowallan Scout Camp
29-06-2018 05:00 PM – 01-07-2018 06:00 PM
Got some free time these winter holidays? Just finished school term? Just finished uni exams? Looking for a relaxing weekend to de-stress and rejuvenate? Well YSA has just the camp for you! This June/July YSA is hosting our very first winter camp at the Rowallan Rotary Sheila Cameron campsite! Situated just outside Riddell's Creek in the beautiful Macedon Ranges, this two day camp has been designed by YSA members for YSA members and our wider community. Leaving Melbourne from 5pm 29 June Returning 6pm 1st of July We've planned plenty of fun activities, games, and team building exercises to help you connect with YSA members and friends! Take a rest from your normal everyday life and enjoy a weekend with old friends and making new! If that's not reason enough, this is also your chance to learn the leadership and communication skills that will help you in everyday life and receive first-hand staffie training tips to help prepare for outreach programs in July and into the future! Transport to the camp will be organised by either V/Line or carpooling with older YSA members as guides! We are currently organising pick-up locations for groups to meet and leave from, we'll be in touch with participants closer to the time to confirm transport. We know some of our younger members will be finishing school on the Friday - don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you. We'll be adjusting our transport plans to make sure anyone who finishes school can attend if they want to!   So how much does the camp cost? The camp will cost $60 for YSA members, or $70 if you don't have a membership. If you only come for one night, the rate is halved. This rate includes everything, except transport. If you are taking the train, you'll need to bring a myki - as Riddell's Creek Station is in zone 2, the trip will only cost concession card holders $2.30 each way! If we organise a car pool for you, we'd ask that you make a gold coin donation to the driver to help cover fuel. Participants are also welcome to drive themselves or be dropped at the camp site, although we would ask those who can to offer lifts where possible! So what are you waiting for? Sign up NOW! We promise it will be an amazing experience, and we don't regret missing out on this opportunity. If you (or a parent) have more questions, feel free to get in touch with us at events@melbourne.ysa.org.au Register Here!

The Royal Society of Victoria
11:00 AM – 04:00 PM
2018 Annual General Meeting It's almost time for YSA Melbourne's 2018 Annual General meeting, where we get together to look back on the last year and elect a shiny, brand-new Executive Committee for the year ahead! As a member, AGM is your big chance to have your say in how our organisation should be run. Anyone who has been a member of YSA for at least 7 days can run for a general committee position, we'd love to see you nominate, so if you are thinking about running, or have any questions please feel free to email/approach any current exec member! If you'd like more information, the full details are available here! The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Royal Society of Victoria (8 La Trobe St), starting at 11am sharp. A group will be meeting at Melbourne Central, next to the shot tower at 10:30 to walk up together. Positions Available - Quick Blurb Top 6: President, Vice President Event, Vice President Science, Secretary, Treasurer and Communications Officer -- These officers are responsible for directing YSA and making sure everything you know and love about YSA happens. To hold one of these jobs, you must be a YSA member, over 18, and have served on the committee for at least 9 months before. General Committee Member (GeM) - 6 to 10 positions available -- These officers are responsible for assisting the top 6, running projects, events and other activities, and generally helping out in the community. They are ideal for anyone who is keen to get more invovled in running YSA, whether you are a first timer who only joined in January this year, or someone who's been around forever and has this great idea they really want to see happen! Estimated workload is up to you, but we'd guess about 1-2 hours a week, and there are no compulsory events! I'm keen, what do I need to do? In order to vote, or nominate, make sure you are a member of YSA. You can check this by logging into your TidyHQ account, just follow the links at the top of this page. Your membership must have been valid for 7 days as of the 24th or March - if it isn't you can renew online with a few clicks of a button. If you are having trouble checking, just email our Jess, our Secretary, at secretary@melbourne.ysa.org.au! To nominate, all you have to do is send an email to our secretary, with your name, the position you are nominating for, and a nominator and two seconders (other people who think you'd be good, you can also nominate yourself). You can also include a bio and photo, which we'll put up on our website closer to the day! Can't make it? If you can't make the meeting and want to submit a proxy (to allow another member, or the chairperson of the meeting, to vote for you) or attend the meeting via telephone/videocall, check out the details of how to do so at this link. Post AGM Social After the AGM, we'll be heading back to Melbourne Central for lunch, before continuing to Games Laboratory, at 328 Little Lonsdale St, for an afternoon of the intense contests of mind, body, soul, with and luck that board games bring. They have an extensive library, so pretty much any game is possible. If you don't know any/many games, don't worry, we'll happily show you some of our easy-to-play favourites! Looking forward to seeing you there! You are also welcome to join us just for lunch and games, but please do try and make the meeting if you are able to do so, as it is important for the future of YSA that you are able to have your say!
